Victoria is Australia's smallest state but has a surprisingly wide variety of landscapes. In the west are the Otways National Park with it's specatcular waterfalls; the Grampians National Park, a vast area dominated by steep sandstone cliffs; and several parks to the north where the drier climate supports low growing Mallee vegetation in semi desert conditions.
In the east the landscape is dominated by the Great Dividing Range where vast forests of Eucalypts grow and snow falls on the high rocky peaks in winter. The north of the state is bordered by the Murray River, the longest river in Australia.
