Arnhem Land

Access to Arnhem Land is such a privilege. At Nhulunbuy the Yulgnu people welcomed us with song lines and traditional healing. At Murwangi in the Arafura Swamp elders shared their connection to country with such joy. Maningrida elders showed their rich culture expressed through art and tools dating back centuries. Mt Borradaile in the stone country was truly a journey back in time with incredible rock art from many generations to be found within the caves. In the far west I visited ruins of a British settlement that failed due to isolation, disease and a lack of understanding of the riches of that country. The site is now protected along with the diverse indigenous flora and fauna in Garig Gunak Barlu National Park.
